Meet The Author ~ Esk Market ~ 8th April 2023

Locals and travellers from Brisbane kept the morning's conversation and flow of melting Easter eggs moving along at a steady pace. Despite thunderstorms and heavy rain threatening to turn the Park into a swimming pool the previous night the morning sunshine was bright, the wind gentle and the grass pleasant underfoot. The Event itself was busy, fun and filled with laughter. A couple from Brisbane turned up to tell me that they had found my book Three Little Words to be inspirational which was nice. I was also delighted by a teenager who sat avidly reading the sampler for Autumn Savannah ~ The First Tale whilst I chatted with her mother. She seemed so engrossed that I gave her a complimentary copy of the book.

I chatted for a while with another teenage girl keen to make her own mark on the world as a writer and I spend a little time with Vivian, author of You Named Me Sheree. However, the incident that captured me the most was a little girl, perhaps 5 years old, who came running over to touch my Richard The Writer sign. Then she turned to her mother, who was at the stall next to mine, and excitedly yelled “Look! A Writer!”. I was delighted that the youngest generation is still impressed by such things as writers :)

Meet The Author ~ Esk Market ~ 4th February 2023

The Esk Pipeliner Park Market is a great place to host a Meet The Author morning. It's a quiet little market set in nice surrounds without the many distractions of a large bustling market.

The weather wasn't the greatest but I enjoyed chatting and laughing with people interested in my books. Most were locals but towards the end a couple from Brisbane turned up which was impressive! I also had a lengthy chat with an American girl - although to be honest she was in Queensland on holiday and came to the market by chance rather than travelling all that way to see me lol. Still, it's nice to think Australian culture will spread a little further in the USA and I may have gained another American reader. Yeah, it was a fun time and not all the lollies got eaten so I had a few left for later ...

I was also thrilled to meet New Zealand author Robert Brooke (the chap in the striped shirt below) who has done what he's been threatening to do for some time and moved to Queensland. Well Done! Visit Robert's website here.
